Sahara, a Promised Land

Shi-Jen Tsai is an anthropologist who has studied the ways of seeing in the desert for ten years. She points out the dilemma of today’s Sahara: the ecological problems that the desert faces and the impact of tourism on economic growth. The author proposes new ideas on eco-tourism ideas as an alternative globalized practice.
